Write an all-company Slack heads-up for a launch with media rules
- For Communications and PR
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Bluebird Insights launches publicly next week. Write a prompt for a Slack post to all staff in plain text, under 90 words, with a first line starting "Heads up:", then at most 3 dash bullets covering when it launches, what staff can share, and where press questions go. Don't say it's free for everyone, and don't mention any unreleased features.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Saying it's free. Old draft copy tempts the AI to say 'free'. Try: Say: "Don't say it's free for everyone."
- Leaking the roadmap. The AI mentions the forecasting module. Try: Say: "Don't mention any unreleased features."
- Missing where questions go. The AI skips the press contact. Try: Name the three bullet topics: launch time, what to share, press questions.
- Too long for Slack. The AI writes a mini memo. Try: Say: "First line Heads up:, at most 3 bullets, under 90 words."
- Letting markdown through. AI adds bold text and headings by default. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the reader and channel
- Sets the first line
- Lists the bullet topics
- Bans free claims and roadmap
- Caps bullets and words
