Write a four-line lead handoff note for a sales rep
- For Marketing and content
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
A lead just filled out a form and you're handing it to the sales rep, Tomas. Write a prompt for exactly four plain-text lines labeled "Who:", "Interest:", "Activity:" and "Suggested opener:", each under 20 words. Use the form data over anything else, and don't guess budget or timeline.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the LinkedIn guess. The AI repeats the unverified headcount. Try: Say: "Use the form data over any other source."
- Guessing budget. The AI invents buying signals. Try: Say: "Don't guess budget or timeline."
- Missing the labels. The AI writes a paragraph. Try: List the four labels.
- Letting markdown through. AI adds bold text and headings by default. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and often runs past a word limit. Try: Cap each part (for example "each line under 15 words") so the total lands well under the limit.
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the reader
- Gives the four labels
- Prefers form data
- Bans guessing
- Caps line length
