About this exercise
A survey asked 200 customers which message they prefer. Write a prompt for a markdown table with columns Message | Votes | Share (whole-number % of 200), sorted highest first, followed by a line starting "Result:" that says "Clear winner: X" only if the top message leads the second by more than 5 percentage points, otherwise "No clear winner: X and Y within 5 points". Under 80 words, no other text.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Declaring A the winner. The AI sees the top row and calls it. Try: Say: "Clear winner only if the lead over second place is more than 5 points."
- Wrong percentages. The AI divides by the top vote count or total of the votes shown. Try: Say: "Share = votes / 200."
- Adding caveat commentary. The AI lectures on order bias. Try: Say: "Table and Result line only."
- Letting markdown through. AI adds bold text and headings by default. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the table columns
- Defines share
- States the clear winner rule
- Gives both result formats
- Caps length
