- For Communications and PR
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
A reporter is asking about the new Kestrel Fitness app. Write a prompt for exactly four "Q:" and "A:" pairs answering the reporter's four questions in order, each answer under 25 words, plain text. Use only the approved statements, and where there's no approved line say "We have nothing to share on that yet."
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the podcast comment. The AI treats the CEO's remark as an answer. Try: Add: "Use only approved statements; if none fits, use the no-comment line."
- Rounding up the numbers. The AI says 'over 60k' as 'nearly 100,000' or adds details. Try: Say: "Copy the approved wording for numbers."
- Missing the Q/A structure. The AI writes a narrative reply. Try: Show the 'Q:' and 'A:' format, four pairs in order.
- Letting markdown through. AI adds bold text and headings by default. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and often runs past a word limit. Try: Cap each part (for example "each line under 15 words") so the total lands well under the limit.
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the Q/A format
- Restricts to approved statements
- Gives the fallback line
- Caps answer length
- Asks for plain text
