Write one hero headline per segment using only shipped features
- For Marketing and content
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Writely is a document tool and the homepage will test one headline per segment. Write a prompt for exactly 3 numbered lines in the form "1. Segment: headline" for agencies, in-house teams and freelancers, in that order, each headline 8 words or fewer and built on a shipped feature that helps that segment. Don't mention planned features. Plain text.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the planned invoicing line. The AI reuses last quarter's invoicing headline. Try: Say: "Only shipped features; no planned ones."
- Segment-blind headlines. The AI writes the same generic headline three times. Try: Say: "Each headline fits its segment's priority."
- Wrong format or order. The AI writes a paragraph or reorders the segments. Try: Show the format: "1. Agencies: headline".
- Wrong number of items. AI adds extra items or drops the numbering. Try: Say the exact count and show the format, like "1. Label: detail".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and often runs past a word limit. Try: Cap each part (for example "each line under 15 words") so the total lands well under the limit.
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the format
- Names the three segments in order
- Caps headline length
- Restricts to shipped features
- Bans overclaims
