Write a 30-second huddle talk track naming the bottleneck with math

  • For Managers and team leads
  • You practice Saying who it's for
  • Time about 5 minutes
  • Level Intermediate

About this exercise

You lead a packing line and want a talk track for the start-of-shift huddle. Write a prompt for plain text, at most 5 sentences, spoken to the crew as "we". The first sentence names the slowest station by effective seconds per unit, accounting for how many people work it. Then give the line's output per hour as math, and end with one question to the crew about speeding up that station.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Naming Label as the slowest. The AI uses the 52 seconds and ignores the second worker. Try: Say: "Effective time = seconds per unit / number of workers."
  • Skipping the math. The AI states the output without showing the division. Try: Say: "Show output per hour as 3,600 / seconds = units."
  • Wrong ending. The AI ends with a motivational line instead of a question. Try: Say: "End with one question to the crew about speeding up that station."
  • Getting markdown back. AI adds bold, headings and bullets by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".

What a strong prompt includes

  • Compares by effective time
  • Asks for the output math
  • Sets the voice
  • Ends with one question
  • Asks for plain text
