About this exercise
Write a prompt for a markdown table with columns Hour, Math, Needed, Scheduled and Status, one row per hour. Needed is orders divided by the pick rate, rounded up to a whole person; show the division in Math. Scheduled accounts for the early departure. Status is OK or SHORT with the number short. Under 140 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Rounding down or to nearest. The AI rounds 9.6 to 10 sometimes but 2.4 to 2. Try: Say: "Round up to the next whole person."
- Ignoring Kim's departure. The AI uses 8 pickers all morning. Try: Say: "7 from 11 a.m. because Kim leaves."
- No table. The AI writes bullets. Try: Name the five columns.
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the columns
- Shows the division
- Rounds up
- Handles the departure
- Sets a length limit
