Spot the conflict in an office move plan and frame the decision
- For Project managers
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Advanced
About this exercise
Write a prompt for a memo to the facilities director with exactly three headings: Plan, Conflict and Decisions needed. Plan lists the dates in order. Conflict says which dates clash and what staff would face. Decisions needed lists the options with their dates and cost, without choosing one. Under 210 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Choosing for the director. The AI recommends one option. Try: Say: "Do not choose an option; the director decides."
- Missing the real clash. The AI lists dates without spotting the cabling comes after the move. Try: Say: "Conflict: which dates clash and what staff would face."
- Wrong headings. The AI writes its own sections. Try: Name the three headings in order.
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the headings
- Asks for the clash
- Includes options and costs
- Leaves the choice to the director
- Sets a length limit
