About this exercise
Write a prompt for a memo to the plant manager with exactly three headings: Cover, Gap and Options. Show the days of cover and the date stock runs out, the days left uncovered until the late delivery with the kilograms needed, and two options with their cost or output effect. Do not choose an option; the plant manager decides. Under 150 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Trusting 'about a week'. The AI says cover is fine until the 20th. Try: Say: "Days of cover = on hand / daily use, shown."
- Buying the wrong quantity. The AI spot-buys for the whole 10 days. Try: Say: "Buy only the kilograms needed to bridge the gap."
- Choosing for the manager. The AI recommends option A. Try: Say: "Do not choose; the plant manager decides."
- Wrong headings. The AI writes its own sections. Try: Name the three headings in order.
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the headings
- Asks for the cover math
- Prices the spot-buy premium
- Leaves the choice
- Sets a length limit
