Count returns processed within the five-day SLA and name the slowest
- For Operations and supply chain
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write a prompt for plain text with exactly four lines: "Within SLA:", "Late:", "Rate:" and "Slowest:". The SLA is 5 days or less, so exactly 5 is on time. Late lists each late return with its days. Rate shows on-time count / total = percent. Under 60 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Counting 5 days as late. The AI treats exactly 5 as late. Try: Say: "5 days or less is on time."
- Accepting '90%'. The AI repeats the lead's estimate. Try: Say: "Rate: on-time / total = percent, shown as math."
- Wrong lines. The AI writes a paragraph. Try: Quote the four labels.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold, headings and bullets by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Quotes the four labels
- Defines on time
- Asks for the math
- Asks for late returns with days
- Asks for plain text
