About this exercise

Write a prompt for plain text with exactly five lines: "Capacity:", "Gap:", "Drivers needed:", "Movable:" and "Decision:". Show the math on the first three. Drivers needed is stops divided by the per-driver maximum, rounded up. Movable counts stops that could go to the next day and says how many stay uncovered. The Decision line says the dispatcher decides and lists two options from the notes. Under 100 words.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Counting Luis. The AI uses 4 drivers. Try: Say: "Luis is out, so 3 drivers."
  • Rounding down. The AI says 3 drivers are enough. Try: Say: "Drivers needed = stops / 11, rounded up."
  • Deciding for the dispatcher. The AI picks overtime. Try: Say: "Gina decides; list both options."
  • Getting markdown back. AI adds bold, headings and bullets by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".

What a strong prompt includes

  • Quotes the labels
  • Uses available drivers
  • Rounds up
  • Names the decider
  • Asks for plain text
