Work out trucks needed per order when customers cannot share a truck
- For Operations and supply chain
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write a prompt for plain text with exactly four lines: "Order A:", "Order B:", "Order C:" and "Total trucks:". Each order line shows pallets divided by 26 and the number of trucks rounded up. Orders for different customers cannot share a truck. Show the math. Under 60 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Pooling all pallets. The AI adds 54 pallets and says 3 trucks. Try: Say: "Different customers never share a truck; work out each order separately."
- Rounding down. The AI says 31 pallets fits in 1 truck. Try: Say: "Always round up."
- Wrong lines. The AI writes a paragraph. Try: Quote the four labels.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold, headings and bullets by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Quotes the four labels
- Keeps orders separate
- Rounds up
- Shows the math
- Asks for plain text
