About this exercise
Write a prompt for plain text with exactly six lines: "Days late:", "Chargeable days:", "Percent:", "Amount:", "Cap check:" and "Flag:". Show the math for each. Report what the clause says; do not say whether the supplier owes it. The Flag line says that the procurement director and legal decide whether to claim. Under 110 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Forgetting the grace period. The AI charges 12 days. Try: Say: "Chargeable = days late minus the 2-day grace."
- Accepting the weather excuse. The AI says no damages apply because of the weather. Try: Say: "Do not rule on the weather claim; legal decides."
- Saying the supplier owes it. The AI states the supplier must pay. Try: Say: "Report the amount only; do not say the supplier owes it."
- Wrong lines. The AI writes a paragraph. Try: Quote the six labels.
- Markdown extras and long output. AI adds bold, headings and bullets by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings" and cap each line, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Quotes the labels
- Mentions the grace period
- Shows the math
- Names who decides
- Asks for plain text
