Script a renewal call with three asks and no budget leaks
- For Procurement
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Advanced
About this exercise
Write a prompt for a call script with exactly five lines starting "Open:", "Ask 1:", "Ask 2:", "Ask 3:" and "Close:". The asks, in order, are fewer seats (show the savings math), a cap on the renewal increase, and a two-year price lock. Never reveal the walk-away number or the budget, and never claim a competing quote. Plain text, under 150 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Revealing the budget. The AI uses the $55,000 ceiling as leverage. Try: Say: "Never mention our budget or a walk-away number."
- Bluffing about competitors. The AI says 'we have a cheaper quote'. Try: Say: "Never claim another vendor's quote."
- No savings math. The AI asks for fewer seats without numbers. Try: Say: "Show the math: 50 seats x $320 = $16,000."
- Wrong structure. The AI writes a dialogue. Try: Quote the five labels in order.
- Markdown extras and long output. AI adds bold, headings and bullets by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings" and cap each line, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Quotes the five labels
- Shows the seat math
- Lists the other asks
- Bans budget and bluffs
- Asks for plain text
