Check four citations against your professor's APA rules
- For College students
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Check your 4 references against your professor's rules. Get exactly one code block holding a JSON array of 4 objects with keys number, status (exactly ok or fix) and problem (under 10 words naming the broken rule, or none). Under 15 words outside the block. Don't rewrite any citation.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking for a check. The AI rewrites every citation, so you don't learn the rules. Try: Say: "Don't rewrite. Name the broken rule only."
- No fixed output shape. Without keys and exact words you get a loose list. Try: Say: "A JSON array with keys number, status (ok or fix), problem."
- Not using the rules. The AI judges by its own idea of APA. Try: Add: "Judge only by Prof. Hale's rules A to D."
- Not asking for a code block. Without one, the AI mixes the data into chatty text. Try: Say: "Put it in exactly 1 code block."
- No line limit in the block. The AI writes as many lines as it likes. Try: Say: "At most 32 lines inside the block."
- Wordy around the block. The AI adds chatter around the answer. Try: Say: "Under 15 words outside the block."
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for JSON in a code block
- Names the keys
- Gives exact status words
- Uses the professor's rules
