Flag where your lecture notes and textbook disagree
- For College students
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Advanced
About this exercise
Compare your lecture notes with your textbook excerpt. Get exactly three lines starting Agree:, Conflict: and Ask professor:, plain text, under 80 words. State both versions in Conflict, do not say which is right, and make the last line a question.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Letting the AI decide. The AI picks the textbook and quietly fixes your notes. Try: Say: "Don't say which is right. Flag it for my professor."
- Hiding one side. A conflict needs both versions side by side. Try: Add: "In Conflict, state both versions."
- No fixed lines. Without labels you get a long comparison. Try: Say: "Three lines: Agree:, Conflict:, Ask professor:"
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 12 words."
- Forgetting where it's going. AI formats for a screen, with bold and headings that show up as stray symbols. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
What a strong prompt includes
- Gives the three labels
- Asks for both versions
