Sort five sources into keep and drop for your paper
- For College students
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Your assignment requires peer-reviewed sources published 2019 or later. Get a markdown table with columns Source, Verdict and Reason: exactly 5 rows, Verdict exactly Keep or Drop, Reason under 8 words, judged only by the library listings. Plain text otherwise, under 110 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Judging by title. The AI picks sources that sound useful, not ones that meet the rules. Try: Say: "Keep only if peer-reviewed AND 2019 or later."
- Not giving exact words. Without fixed words you get 'maybe' and long notes. Try: Say: "Verdict exactly Keep or Drop."
- Long reasons. Reasons turn into paragraphs. Try: Say: "Reason under 8 words, using only the listing."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 12 words."
- Forgetting where it's going. AI formats for a screen, with bold and headings that show up as stray symbols. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for a table
- Gives exact verdict words
- States both rules
- Limits reasons
- Uses only the listings
