Prepare answers to the CFO's likely dashboard questions
- For Managers and team leads
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
You present the Q4 sales dashboard to the CFO, Priya Raman, tomorrow. Write a Q&A with exactly 3 questions and answers, each as 'Q:' then 'A:' on the next line, plain text, under 130 words. Each answer is at most 2 sentences, uses numbers from the notes, and the third answer names the one approval you need from her.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Promising quota. The AI says the team will hit quota. Try: Add: "Say $1.5M is 75% of quota and $2.1M needs best case deals."
- Vague cause. The AI blames 'market conditions' for the long cycle. Try: Add: "Two enterprise deals needed 30 extra days of legal review; 61 days without them."
- Vague ask. The AI says 'support from finance'. Try: Add: "The ask is approval of net-60 terms for the $400K Harbor Analytics deal."
- Leaving the format to chance. The AI picks its own length and layout unless told the exact shape. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold or headings."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example "each line under 15 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the reader
- Asks for Q and A pairs
- Uses the quota numbers
- Names the approval
- Limits answer length
